Want to try a different hike? The City of Marana’s Parks and Recreation department sponsors an annual event called “MOVE Across 2 Ranges”, to be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Hikers will start in the Tortolita Mountains, hiking half of their registered distance, and then will commute to Catalina State Park to hike the second half. A very fun after party is held at CSP that includes lunch.
Four different hikes are being offered:
Mighty (7Miles)
Major (12 miles)
Mega (15 miles)
Massive (20 miles)
Even though this is NOT a SB Hiking Club event, we have volunteer guides that are willing to coordinate and lead the Mighty and Mega groups.
Here’s how to participate:
1. Register online directly with the City of Marana at:
maranaaz.gov/Departments/Parks-Recreation/MOVE
2. The registration fee is $50. The registration includes: a t-shirt, swag bag, pre-event party, free entry into CSP, snacks, and water at the trailheads. Please register ASAP because this event is predicted to fill up by the end of December (however, there will be a waitlist available).
3. Once you are confirmed with Marana; and if you want to hike with a group, send an email and let either Terry Hughes or Dianna Wilson know which hike you are doing.
