Golden Gate Loop & Peak. Rating: B. Pace: Moderate [NEW, 06:30 AM, $7]. The hike begins at the K-2 Parking lot off of Kinney Road at the southeast end of Golden Gate Mountain. Golden Gate Mountain was used as the backdrop in many Hollywood horse operas and movies made at Old Tucson. In Tucson Mountain Park, we will traverse a clockwise loop following the Tucson Estates Trail 1.4 miles, David Yetman Trail 0.7 mile, just before turning off this trail, we will take a user trail to ascend to this awesome Golden Gate summit, steep scrambling involved, 1.6 miles up & back, Golden Gate Trail - 2.7 miles and complete the loop using the brand new Kinney Trail for 1.9 miles. Hike 8.3 miles; trailhead elevation 2632 feet; net elevation change 1666 feet; accumulated gain 1850 feet; RTD 70 miles.
