[C] CSP - Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs from the Sutherland Trail. Rating: C. Pace: Moderate [172, 08:00 AM, $2 + $2]. What a great way to work up an appetite for the hiking club picnic!  From the main trailhead at the east end of Catalina State Park, the hike follows the Sutherland Trail past the wilderness sign, and then turns toward Dripping Springs at a Sutherland Trail sign and bench. Much of the trail is sandy and there may be several water crossings if water is flowing in the CDO. After entering the wilderness area, the trail is somewhat rocky. An old abandoned mine is visible to the left of the canyon. Keep to the right at a trail junction for lower Romero Canyon outlook.  Backtrack to the junction and head east to Dripping Springs.  Along the trail is a group of bedrock metates. Hike 4.2 miles; trailhead elevation 2700 feet; net elevation change 475 feet; accumulated gain 475 feet; RTD 24 miles. [Guide: Terry McCarthy t.mccarthy410@gmail.com]
