About this event

History Hike: The Dams of SaddleBrooke. Pace: Moderate. Meeting point will be MV Clubhouse parking lot as usual.  After carpooling to the trailhead located in the Preserve, From Willow Canyon Dr., hike to the top of old Golder Dam and see the emergency spillway, hydraulic controls, and great view of Saddlebrooke. Learn the dam’s history and see old photos of Golder Lake. Descend to the Canada del Oro to Pierre Charouleau’s masonry dam of the 1880s and learn its history. Hike is approximately one mile; 200 feet elevation gain. *** rating due to short steep sections, loose rocks, and uneven terrain. Recommend cleated hiking boots, hiking poles and protective clothing. Barbed wire fence crossing.
