About this event
Tortoise Rock [564, D***, 6:30am*, $0] The Tortoise Rock trail extends the existing trail system further north alongside The Preserve on the other side of the CDO. Tortoise Rock trail starts at the lower end of Willow Canyon Dr and across the CDO at the base of Golder Dam. The trail makes its way north among several spectacular rock gardens and outcroppings generally following existing game trails. Trail length is 1.2 miles with overall elevation gain of 450 feet for the 2.4 mile round trip. This trail complements the other trails on the east side of the CDO from Saddlebrooke. The existing trails include Dome Rock, Titanic Rock (including Stone HouseRancheria Springs), The PreserveDome Trail and Golder Dam. Hike 2.5 miles; accumulated gain 453 ft.
