Rincon Peak. Rating: A. Pace: Moderate [365, 08:00 AM, $21]. The trailhead for this hike is accessed on Mescal Road (16 miles dirt) off I-10 south of Tucson. Betty Leavengood refers to this hike as the PhD of hiking. Rincon Peak is the second highest peak in the Rincon Mountains and is located east of Tucson. An enormous rock cairn graces the summit. The views from the summit are worth the rigorous trek. Hike 15.4 miles; trailhead elevation 4288 feet; net elevation change 4280 feet; accumulated gain 4356 feet; RTD 165 miles (dirt).
