[B] Parker Canyon Lake + AZ Trail

AZ Trail & Parker Canyon Lakeshore Trail. Rating: B. Pace: Moderate [316, 05:30 AM, $21]. This hike is a lollipop route. The hike starts at the AZT Trailhead on Montezuma Pass Road which we follow for 2.2 miles. Then we take a connector to the lakeshore for 0.5 mile. We now follow the Parker Canyon Lakeshore Trail counter-clockwise which is a relatively easy traverse with minimal elevation change, except for one rocky ledge area, and involves walking along the 5.3 mile trail around Parker Canyon Lake. If the lake level is up, then we walk around many pretty fingers of the lake. There are several benches around the lake for watching waterfowl and for eating a snack. The lake is located 35 miles south of Sonoita. Hike 10.7 miles, trailhead elevation 5540 feet; net elevation change 325 feet; accumulated gain 1200 feet; RTD 211 miles.
