The hike begins at the Bog Springs Campground in Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains, and passes through three areas fed by natural springs which are home to bamboo, huge Arizona sycamore, walnut, and fir trees. There are great views of Madera Canyon, Green Valley, Kitt Peak, and Baboquivari Peak from this trail, which involves strenuous, steep climbs in spots. Hiking poles recommended, and bring a minimum of 2 liters of water. Hike 6 miles; trailhead elevation 5340 feet; net elevation change 1360 feet; accumulated gain 2000 feet; RTD 130 miles. There is a fee for parking unless you have a National Park Pass that must be displayed.
